Murasaki Café at The Mark Twain House
Although his legendary travels took him to far-flung locations around the globe, Mark Twain
never made it to Japan. Had he just waited a century or so, the best of Japan would have come
to his home in Hartford.
The Mark Twain House & Museum proudly offers the four-star Japanese cuisine of West
Hartford’s popular Murasaki Restaurant. Now open for lunch on the second floor of the
ultra-modern Mark Twain Museum Center, Murasaki Café at The Mark Twain House invites
one and all to enjoy delicious cuisine from Japan alongside American classics served with an
Asian twist.
Eclectic Menu features both American & Japanese fare such as:

Guests can extend their visit to the museum as they linger in the café over a delicious lunch.
We welcome area residents and employees looking for a change of pace during their lunch
break without having to pay the museum admission. With plenty of free parking and
reasonable prices, Murasaki Café at The Mark Twain House makes a scenic lunch destination
for Hartford-area foodies.
Murasaki’s previous locations have attracted tremendous praise. The New York Times called it
“a real find,” and Zagat rated it “extraordinary to perfection.” Murasaki is also the only
Japanese restaurant in the Greater Hartford area to make the cut for the New York Japanese
tourist guide.
