Twain and Stowe's Holiday Time Machine, November 21-22

On Saturday, Nov. 21, and Sunday, Nov. 22, at "Twain and Stowe's Holiday Time Machine" in the Museum Center, we collaborate with the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center in a holiday extravaganza. The Time Machine toy and hobby shop of Manchester will allow visitors to sample electric trains, doll houses, card and board games, marbles, toy soldiers, and blocks; the Stowe Visitors' Center will feature children's tours of the Stowe house, carriage rides and a petting zoo. Santa's role: the traditional one of asking kids what gifts they'd like for the holidays. Holiday food and drink will be available. Admission is $5 per person -- free to ticket-holders for house tours.

The event goes on during both museums' regular hours: 9:30 to 5:30 on Saturday and noon to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Elves and actors portraying the Clemens daughters will be supplied by the Hartford Children’s Theatre. Holiday decor by Woodland Gardens of Manchester. Carriage rides will be operated by Blue Star Equiculture Burgundy Brook Farm of Palmer, Mass., which provides a rescue service for draft horses. Sharon Family Farm of Tolland, Conn., will operate the petting zoo (with alpacas, a mini-donkey, sheep, goats, lambs and bunnies).

Twain and Stowe’s Holiday Time Machine is sponsored by the Greater Hartford Arts Council.
