What began in 1929 as an effort to preserve his Hartford home as a tangible reminder of Twain's remarkable body of work has evolved into an educational and cultural institution that is committed to preserving, re–interpreting and presenting his legacy for generations to come. Mark Twain's works and values are timeless. The Mark Twain House & Museum is dedicated to continually reenergizing his legacy for new audiences. We undertake this mission through a wide variety of programs at the Mark Twain House & Museum that serve not only to preserve his legacy, but also to re–interpret and celebrate it every day.

Programs for school children are designed to use Twain's works and the Clemens family's home life to teach literacy and language skills, and as important, to learn curiosity. State–of–the–art classroom facilities improve the experience for people attending programs at the Museum and make possible as well the broadcast of distance learning and information programming.

A trip to The Mark Twain House and Museum will bring Mark Twain and his era to life for your students. Mark Twain House and Museum tours and programs are designed to meet the goals and objectives of the Connecticut Framework and to enhance your students' study of Mark Twain and the Gilded Age. In addition to student tours we offer in–depth teacher workshops throughout the year. Please come back to our site often to search for upcoming trainings.

Thank you for your interest in visiting The Mark Twain House and Museum.
