We were overwhelmed by the generous donations our visitors made to the Jean Clemens’ Birthday Pet Food and Supply Drive that was held throughout the month of July. With your participation, we made three drop offs to the CT Humane Society, each filled to the top with goodies for animals-in-need. We learned that some of the donations went directly to a local community in need of supplies, and we’re happy to report that those animals are doing very well and are thankful for the food.
While some of the donations came from community members who simply wanted to drop off supplies in our lobby, we learned that one visiting family who had booked their tour learned about the donation drive in their pre-tour email and immediately stopped to pick up pet food before arriving for their day at the Mark Twain House & Museum. It is this type of generosity and kindness that matched Jean Clemens’ love of animals and nature and for which we are grateful.
Along with the donation drive, we asked visitors to color in a paper flower and add it to the wall to complete a bouquet for Jean. We will be posting some of those on our social media channels for you to enjoy, too!
