
THE MARK TWAIN HOUSE & MUSEUM ANNOUNCES TWO JANUARY AUTHOR TALKS: ONE VIRTUAL, ONE IN PERSON
Hartford, CT (January 2026) – The Mark Twain House & Museum will kick off the new year with two author events in January, bringing audiences into conversation with history and contemporary fiction in the spirit of Twain’s enduring love of language and lively debate.
IN THE ARENA with David S. Brown (Virtual) takes place Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. Acclaimed historian and author David S. Brown will discuss his new biography of Theodore Roosevelt, exploring the pivotal moments that shaped America’s 26th president and the dawn of the American Century. Twain and Roosevelt had a famously complicated relationship, making this an especially engaging evening for readers interested in the collision of personality, politics, and public life. THE WILDERNESS with Angela Flournoy (In Person) takes place Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at the Mark Twain House & Museum in Hartford as part of the museum’s Voices of Today Series, which invites celebrated and diverse contemporary writers to engage with audiences. Flournoy’s The Wilderness follows five Black women over two transformative decades as they navigate the complicated demands of adulthood, family, ambition, and friendship. Books will be available for purchase, and the author will sign copies following the discussion.
