A Little Harmless Fun: The Fabulous Journey of Michael Alago

Arts writer Frank Rizzo will talk with record-label executive, photographer, and author Michael Alago, whose new memoir, I Am Michael Alago: Breathing Music. Signing Metallica. Beating Death, will be published in mid-November.
Alago grew up gay in a large Puerto Rican family and parlayed his interest in the arts into a successful music-management career. He worked as an assistant music director at the Ritz and Red Parrot nightclubs; he then became an A&R executive at Elektra Records, Palm Pictures, and Geffen Records. He produced albums for Cyndi Lauper, White Zombie, and Nina Simone.
He is an AIDS survivor, is sober from drug and alcohol addiction, and has been a photographer and writer since leaving the music business in 2005.
