Arts writer Frank Rizzo will talk with record-label executive, photographer, and author Michael Alago, whose new memoir, I Am Michael Alago: Breathing Music. Signing Metallica. Beating Death, will be published in mid-November.

Alago grew up gay in a large Puerto Rican family and parlayed his interest in the arts into a successful music-management career. He produced albums for Cyndi Lauper, White Zombie, and Nina Simone.

He is an AIDS survivor, is sober from drug and alcohol addiction, and has been a photographer and writer since leaving the music business in 2005.

A 2017 documentary, Who The F**k Is That Guy’? The Fabulous Journey of Michael Alago, was directed by Drew Stone.

Rizzo has covered theater for four decades for The Hartford CourantVariety, and The New York Times.  He is host of The Mark Twain House & Museum series A Little Harmless Fun. Read his work on his website Showriz.

A book sale and signing will follow the conversation.

Tickets are $10.
