In her new work of nonfiction, NANAVILLE: Adventures In Grandparenting, Anna Quindlen explores the role of being a first-time grandmother, while reflecting on the different maternal roles we play throughout our lives. She’s adjusting to no longer being mother and decision-maker but secondary character and support to her son and daughter-in-law. This is Anna at her best on family, female relationships, and being a parent/sister/friend/mother-in-law written with wisdom, humor and wit.

Quindlen will be joined in conversation by Bridget Quinn-Carey, chief executive officer of Hartford Public Library, and will sign books after their talk.

Quindlen is the author of nine novels, including One True Thing, Black and Blue, and Alternate Side. Her memoir Lots of Candles, Plenty of Cake and book A Short Guide to a Happy Life are bestsellers.  Public and Private, her Pulitzer Prize winning column at the New York Times, resulted in two collections, Living Out Loud and Thinking Out Loud. Her Newsweek columns were collected in Loud and Clear.
