The Mark Twain American Voice in Literature Awards

November 30, 2017 • 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm

 Bill Beverly

Please join us for the 2017 Mark Twain American Voice in Literature Awards ceremony — on Mark Twain’s birthday.

The Mark Twain American Voice in Literature Award is presented by The Mark Twain House & Museum to the author whose book, published in the previous calendar year, best embodies an “American voice” such as Twain established in his masterpiece Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.

This year’s winner is Bill Beverly, for his debut novel Dodgers. The other finalists were Stuart Nadler, for The Inseparables, and Don DeLillo for Zero K.

The awards will be presented by best-selling author David Baldacci and Roger Michel, Jr., trustees of The Mark Twain House & Museum and benefactors of the awards and ceremony. After the ceremony, toast Mark Twain on his birthday with cake and champagne served by members of his family and household staff!

Beverly will read from his book after being presented with the award.

Copies of the books will be available for purchase and signing.

We wish to thank our final-round judges Roy Blount, Jr., Walter Harrison, and Bridget Quinn-Carey, and our honorary judge Belle Ribicoff.

Admission is free, but registration is required. Please call (860) 247-0998 or click here to reserve your seats.

A 6 p.m. VIP reception and meet-and-greet with the authors, judges, and DAVID BALDACCI will precede the 7:30 program. Tickets are $75 and can be reserved by clicking here.
