Part of our Truths in Our Time Series
“Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain
What happens behind closed doors matters — whether it’s the palace or the headlines. Gareth Russell’s bold re-reading of King James I shows how his private relationships and passions shaped the politics and culture of his time. Expect surprising stories, clear history, and a conversation that makes the past feel vividly relevant. We’ll explore how intimacy, gossip, and patronage influenced big decisions—reminding us that the private lives of leaders still affect public life today.
