Mark Twain Abroad

Let us guess that whenever we read a sentence & like it, we unconsciously store it away . . .

Here at Mark Twain’s historic home, our mission statement begins: “From this house, Mark Twain changed the way the world sees America . . .” But how? This project aims to explore that question and deepen our understanding of Twain’s ongoing impact around the world.

If you’re someone who was introduced to Mark Twain’s writings outside of the United States, we’d love to hear from you. We’re not looking for scholarly analysis or grand life-changing stories (unless you have one!), we’d just like to know what it was like to encounter this American writer in a non-American setting.
