Garden Volunteers
The Mark Twain House & Museum is actively looking for Garden Volunteers to help with our eleven gardens. Under the direction of the Gardens and Grounds Coordinator, garden volunteers will be asked to help with planting, raking, mulching, watering, pulling weeds, pruning, and clean up. The work is physically demanding and incredibly rewarding. Please be aware that work may include activities such as: lifting, squatting, bending, kneeling, climbing a step ladder, walking on uneven surfaces, etc. Proper work clothing and footwear required.
We are also looking for Conservatory Volunteers to help with watering, pruning, and caring for the plants in the Mark Twain House’s historic conservatory. At least once a year, all volunteers will work together for a full day to complete a thorough clean-up of the conservatory, during which all plants are removed, the Creeping Fig is pruned, marble chips are replenished, the water fountain is emptied and scrubbed, and windows are washed.
Garden volunteers are onsite multiple days a week from mid-March through mid- November. Hours vary each week depending on season, weather, and need.
